Blanket Chronicles

Windowsill Blocks

At our last meeting in September, our talented blanket makers made windowsill blocks. The idea is to think about what you might see if you look out of a window.  You might see: ladybugs, owls, dogs, houses, bear and maybe oceans with sea creatures!  Or, maybe you will spy a boy knight in shining armor.

Our Project Linus Chapter has many talented quilters and they have lead us in assembling different block patterns.  The windowsill blocks were fun to create and the end results were quite whimsical.  I took a number of windowsill blocks home and created a few blankets.  You can see the blocks below as they are assembled, stitched into a quilt top and then quilted onto a soft fleece backing.

We have a number of projects planned for upcoming months.  This month we will share quilting tips with one another and one of our Blanketeers will do a tutorial on Seminole Patchwork. I have a feeling that a few blankets may be created using this technique once we learn it!
