May 2022 marked our 4th year in Humboldt County. In those four years, we have made and delivered 1,553 blankets to local children in need of a blanket hug. We have about 18 active blanket makers and we do get some one time only blanket donations. We would not have been able to accomplish this without these dedicated and talented blanket makers: our Blanketeers!
We also would not have accomplished this milestone without funding from local organizations. In May 2022, we received a letter and a check from Soroptimists International of Humboldt Bay (SIHB). They generously funded the Club Giving application I wrote earlier this year. This is the 2nd year SIHB has funded us. These funds will help us purchase blanket materials. Not only has SIHB funded us, but their sincere support for our blanket mission inspires us to keep our sewing machines whirring!
You can see blankets here which will be delivered in the coming months and a few cupcakes to celebrate our birthday.
44 blankets were donated to our chapter in May and 42 blankets went out to local agencies working with young children and their families. Four years ago, I was sure that I could find talented blanket makers and local organizations to support our blanket work in Humboldt County. I continue to be impressed with the blankets that we make with the support and funding of SIHB and others acknowledged in previous posts.
A warm Happy Birthday to our “small, but mighty” Humboldt Project Linus Chapter. Here’s to another four years!
